Rant du jour

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

OK, I have a couple beers in me and it time to let the shit fly. Now I’m a firm believer in “every thing has its place”, but there are just some things in the craft beer world that is plain getting out of hand. eBay is my gripe of the day, rather rant du jour.

Best in Show, Simply Beer’s Sorachi Patersbier

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Now I get to toot my own horn!  I found out tonight that my Sorachi Patersbier just won “Best in Show” at this years NJ State Fair Homebrewing Competition.  I’m really excited about this. I’ve been brewing beer since my wife bought me my first kit 12 or 13 years ago, but I’ve entered less than a dozen competitions and this is my first win!

Terrapin De Proef Monstre Rouge

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

I don’t think I’ve ever had, let alone heard of, an Imperial Flanders Red.  But, what the hell why not. Every other friggin’ style has an imperial this or double that, why not a flanders red?  Going into this beer I though It would have come across as a sour, but the aroma is like a tropical fruit salad smothered in bubblegum.  If someone had just handed me this glass and said, “Sniff it and tell me the style”  I would have said an IPA, hands down.  But that is the spirit of a collaborative beer.  You get two or more brewers together an hopefully the best of both come out in the beer.

Stupid is as Stupid does…

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Ok homebrewers, I know you have all done something completely and utterly stupid at least once begging the question “What am I friggin’ idiot!?!?!”  I had my turn at it a couple days ago.  So, as any good homebrewer should I was cleaning my taps and tap lines….

Time to Vent – Beer Trading

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

I was going to put up a beer review for today, Three Floyds Dreadnaught, but that is going to have to wait a day.   Why, because some people just piss me off and I feel like venting , so now you get to enjoy my simple tirade over what my wife would call meaningless shit.  To her credit, she’s right in  the grand scheme of things beer trading is pretty meaningless.
