Very cool! I hope you keep this part updated, I’d like to see what is good! I got Scott the Chocolate Bock for Christmas, and even I liked it, which may not be saying much, but I’d like to know what you think about it. :-)

  2. Mark Says:

Nice cellar! Is it in your basement and if so whats the temperature range down there? I have a mini fridge that I currently keep my good beer in but it has a small capacity. the good thing is that it’s at 48-50 degrees pretty much all the time.

  3. Simply Beer Says:

Mark, I’m lucky the temp doesn’t fluctuate much and it isn’t humid/damp. It is a pretty even 65deg. Granted it should be a bit cooler, but ya got to work with what ya got.

  4. scott-thebrewclub Says:

Nice rack. You even have some bad-ass steins up there! I have one, but when you open it up its really a music box. Can’t figure out how I would enjoy beer while some German melody is pinging away!

  5. Simply Beer Says:

Thanks one of the steins is also a music box, doesn’t work anymore (or needs to be wound up. The tall one in the back is from the 1890’s, another was my dad’s fraternity mug and the others I have picked up a garage sales.

De Ranke XX Bitter Golden Ale – Hoppiest Beer in Belgium

The hoppiest beer in Belgium, hummm… well I need to see for myself.   XX Bitter Belgium Golden Ale says right on the bottle, “the Hoppiest Beer in Belgium”.  I don’t know how many IBU’s this beer, but it has a best before day which is 2014. 2014, an IPA with a best by date 4 [...]

Mahr’s Brau Saphir Weiss

This beer was given to me by Amanti Vino to review and to be quite frank, it probably isn’t a beer I would have picked up to begin with.  But, with that said I go in with an open mind hoping for the best.  It is actually a pretty stupid reason why I wouldn’t have purchased [...]

Captain Lawrence Birra DeCicco

What happens when Captain Lawrence brings in one of their biggest supporters who happens to also be a high end food market?  You get a Abbey Ale made with Imported Italian Chestnut Honey and Jam.  I’m not even sure what “Italian Chestnut honey and jam” is, but it peaked my interest.  As a big supporter [...]

Dark Matter Release Party at Brooklyn Brewery

One of the coolest things about having a beer blog is meeting cool beer people and going to industry events.  Monday night was no different; the release party for Brooklyn Breweries latest Brewmaster’s Reserve Series beer, Dark Matter.  As one of the lucky few who actually had Dark Matter when it was an employee only private [...]

Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast, round 2

This beer will be a first for me; the first time I’ve reviewed the same beer twice. My first Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast review was in April of 2009, almost a year later and I want to see if it is just as good, better, or worse as it was last year.  I love my [...]
