3months 10 beers -> Beers 1 & 2

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

My wife and I are on a quest to find her 10 beers over the next 3 months that she can enjoy!  We have found very few beers that she has enjoyed.  So tonight we sampled two beers, Southern Tiers Creme Brulee and Fantome Dark White.  These are almost polar opposite beers, so I hoped by choosing such different beers, I could start to get a track on what is going to appeal to Dani. Gouden Carolus Grand Cru of the Emperor

Friday, April 9th, 2010

The best part of what I do is trying new beer and sharing the experience with you.  Even better, trying a beer I’ve been holding for a long time, trying it for the first time, and sharing the experience.  Tonight, that new experience will be a 2007 Gouden Carolus Grand Cru of the Emperor.  This beer is only brewed once a year in Mechelen Belgium and every year it is slightly different.jaargang_grandcru2

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Belgian style beers have always fascinated me, especially the tripels and quads.  So much potential flavor with so few ingredients. I haven’t had many beers from South Hampton, so I was looking forward to this strong dark ale.  At 9.9% abv this Abbot 12 would be considered a quad.Southampton_abbot2

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

This beer was an impulse buy, I didn’t go out in search of it.  Seeing this tiny pudgy bottle of Eerwaarde Pater mixed in with corked 750 ml big boys made it standout.  After reading the label I was intrigued and wanted to try this brew.  This is a 9% abv Belgian Dark ale matured in oak, has potential?eerwaarde_pater1

Having had several beers from Unibroue and quite frankly they have all been superb beers, so as you can guess I’m pretty excited about this one.  The Unibroue Trois Pistoles is considered to be a Belgian style Strong Dark Ale, at 9% abv i think it part way there.
