Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche Oak Smoked Doppelbock

Lucky for me I stopped into one of local Beer Stores, Amanti Vino and the Beer Manager, Thad said they had just got in the Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche Oak Smoked Doppelbock and I should try it.  When I had heard Schlenkerla made an Oaked Smoked Doppelbock, I had to try it.  I’m a huge smoked beer fan and even bigger fan of the over the top smoked beers of Schlenkerla, with the Urbock being my current favorite.

Paulaner Salvator Double Bock

It getting close that time of year when the Doppelbocks will be flooding the shelves of our local liquor stores just in time for Lent.  Traditionally Doppelbocks are strong German lagers, also commonly know as liquid bread.  German monks would brew this beer to sustain them through the fast of Lent.  The Paulaner Salvator is one of the oldest German Doppelbock, the monks first started brewing this beer over 360 years ago.paulaner_salvator2

Troegenator Doublebock

Lately I’ve been on a Doublebock kick.  I don’t know why, but I’m really enjoying this style of beer.  So, last week in my local beer store I saw the Troegs Doublebock, I had to give it a try especially since I’ve liked most of the beers from Troegs I’ve had.

Schloss Eggenberg Doppelbock Dunkel

Private Weissbier-Brauerei Aventinus Wheat Doppelbock

I don’t drink many bocks, probably even less doppelbocks.  For some reason, whether some had mentioned it to me, I saw the Aventinus Wheat-Doppelbock in my local beer store and had to try it.
