I’m here in San Francisco (at least when I wrote this) staying in Noe Valley.  With a quick walk down to my local craft beer store, Plumpjacks on 24th street, I quickly honed in on the several Cascade beers on the shelf.  Since I’d had the other two, I easily decided on the Apricot.  I’d never had a apricot beer, let alone a sour apricot and frankly I don’t know if I would even drink a regular apricot beer…

I apologize, I don’t recall how this beer came into my beer cave.  I know it came as part of a trade…. None-the-less, I’m surprised I still have room for more beer after the amazing showcase of Iron Brewer beer I had earlier tonight.  But, it is here and it’s time for this Lost Abbey Red Poppy to met its maker!

I’ve been craving sour beers lately.  I don’t know why, but when I saw the Jolly Pumpkin La Roja, I had to get this Flanders Style beer.  Having heard several interviews with the folks at Jolly Pumpkin and their passion for sours, their beers have been on my must try list.

The Ommegang Rouge is a Flanders red ale. If you have never had a Flanders red ale, find out a bit about the style first because this has a habit of shocking people who don’t know what to expect.  Based on the recommendation of the Owner at the Cloverleaf Tavern, I had to give this beer a try while they had it on tap.
