Been hearing a lot of chatter on twitter whether or not this years foothills Brewing’s Sexual Chocolate had some issues.  Since I was lucky enough to have a friend with an extra bottle a couple months ago, I decided to see if  my bottle was a victim to internet rumors.

Friday, October 8th, 2010

My wife and I are on a quest to find her 10 beers over the next 3 months that she can enjoy! We have found very few beers that she has enjoyed. But on this one fun filled night, I hit a grand slam or at least figured out how to introduce new beer to my wife. Granted there will still be beer she doesn’t like, but with some good food and in this case good family I have a leg up. With my beer adventurous in-laws, good food, and some great beer, I think I might have figured it out. (more…)

Mikkeller Rauch Geek Breakfast -> Bacon beer

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

After Funk e(Star), I’m really looking to a redeeming beer from Mikkeller. Before Funk e(star), Mikkeller had never let me down with a beer, especially the Beer Geek Breakfast. So, when a buddy of mine said he had a couple bottles for me of Rauch Geek Breakfast (also known a s Bacon Geek Breakfast in Europe), I jumped on them.

3months 10 beers -> Beers 1 & 2

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

My wife and I are on a quest to find her 10 beers over the next 3 months that she can enjoy!  We have found very few beers that she has enjoyed.  So tonight we sampled two beers, Southern Tiers Creme Brulee and Fantome Dark White.  These are almost polar opposite beers, so I hoped by choosing such different beers, I could start to get a track on what is going to appeal to Dani. Captain Lawrence Espresso Stout

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

One of the few reviews that I’ve done where I have actually already had the beer while I’m writing the review.  The Captain Lawrence Espresso Stout, like most of their beer, is a draft only seasonal beer.  I’m writing this review as one of the few lucky people who actually have a sixtel of Captain Lawrence beer in their kegorator.  How you ask?  A couple of days ago, I hosted a Captain Lawrence Beer Dinner with Restaurant Passionne and Scott Vaccaro brought down a the last sixtel he had in the Brewery and after the event was done, he asked me if I wanted what was left.  So what beer geek  could possible say no?  After promising to return the log and the tap, it now sits in my kegorator pouring glass after glass of espresso deliciousness.Captainlawrence_espresso2

Great Divide Espresso Oak aged Yeti

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

My buddy Scott in Colorado sent me this beer a couple months back when it first came out (and a glass to drink it in).  I stashed it way with my ever increasing collection of beer and soon forgot about it.  That was until I got an email from Scott the other day about some podcast ideas and suddenly I had a hankering for an espresso (coffee) stout.  So here we are, I’m about to pull this out and I don’t know much about the beer aside from its got coffee in it and it is base beer is the wonderfully delicious Yeti Imperial Stout.  I reviewed it about a year ago and it was already packed fully of chocolate and coffee aromas and flavors.  In Great Divides’ infinite wisdom (seriously) they made an oaked version of Yeti.  Yeti aged with oak chips, which was even better then the Yeti with an additional layer of complexity of vanilla and oak.  Now they have taken the Oaked Yeti and added espresso to it.  They scored with the first ramp up of the Yeti to oaked Yeti, lets see how the Espresso infused oak aged Yeti is.greatdivide_espresso2
