I was looking through my beer cellar today, not sure what I was really looking for.  Being a warm  day in Jersey I was kind of surprised when I picked out the Troegs Mad Elf Holiday ale;  this is an 11% ABV beer brewed with cherries and honey.  As I was reading the label, I thought that the cherries and honey in this beer plus the alcohol might make for a pretty good steak marinade.

So if you don’t know, I’m on the wagon this month.  To keep things rolling on Simply Beer, I’ve decided to expand my culinary (Stop laughing) skills. Since it’s Cinco de Mayo, I’m going to make something with that in mind, Beer “tortilla” chips and salsa.  Since this is a beer site and I’m not a chef nor have the time to make many things from scratch, everything is store bought.  I loved doing this experiment, because it was so simple.

I got the base recipe from my Mother and have modified it a bit over the last couple of years. This Chili recipe is so hearty and delicious; I thought I would take it one step further and merge my love of beer and this chili.

German Spaghetti

1 box of pasta (cook el dente)
1 lb knockwurst (cut in small slices)
1 can cheddar cheese soup
2 T flour
1 12 oz bottle of beer (Try German Lager like a Kellerbier)
2 T olive oil or butter
1 sm onion chopped (you can also add any other veg. like green or red peppers, hot peppers, mushrooms etc)
Parsley, nutmeg, Worcester sauce
Lg baking dish
