Dogfish Head – Sierra Nevada Life & Limb Release Dinner at Bobby Flay’s Bar Americain

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

It’s not every day you get to attend the release dinner for an amazing collaborative beer. When I heard about the Life & Limb collaboration beer between Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada and their east coast release dinner was going to be 20 minutes away, I had to get there. Not only beer from two amazing breweries, but food and the pairing done by Bobby Flay at Bar Americain.  According to Sam Calagione(Dogfish Head) and Ken Grossman(Sierra Nevada) Bobby Flay had been working on this menu and beer pairing for the last month and it was a great meal!  I think for the most part, I’ll let the pictures of the food and beer do the talking!lifelimb_casks

Sierra Nevada 13th Release Harvest Wet Hop Ale

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I’m always on the look out for the next big hop craze, it was IPA’s then Imperial IPA’s then hopped up whatever and now we are at Wet Hop beers.  While Sierra Nevada has been doing it for awhile, there seems to be lots of people jumping on that band wagon.  Sierra Nevada’s Wet Hop Ale is made with cascade and centennial hops and I can’t wait to try them fresh in this beer.  I found the 13th Release of Sierra Nevada’s Harvest Wet Ale last week in Rochester NY.  Since I wasn’t sure when it would be in my local store in NJ I bought a bottle.  sierranevada_fresh2

Beer Review: Sierra Nevada Red Ale

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

The Sierra Nevada Red Ale is a one-of-a-kind pilot brew.  How my local waterhole in New Jersey got this  beer, I don’t know.  But, I’ll gladly give it a try, so I brought a growler (1/2 gal) of the Red Ale home.  The Sierra Nevada Irish Red was brewed at the Sierra Nevada brewery by the Vice President of Peerless Beverage Company in NJ. Check out the brewmasters notes.

Cloverfield Tavern – Hop Fresh Ale, Delirium Tremens, Flashback, 90 Min

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

The title sounds like a horrible drinking bender, but is was actually a very savory night at one of my local watering holes, the Cloverleaf Tavern in Caldwell NJ.  Through the Cloverleaf’s Facebook fan page, I saw they were going to be featuring several Sierra Nevada ales.  I was most interested in the hyped Southern Hemisphere Harvest Hop Fresh ale.sierranevada_southernhem
